“Christmas in the Crick”
Typically on the last Friday in November, the Town of North Rustico hosts it’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting in the heart of town. A massive tree is decorated and lit for the first time at our tree lighting. Our Fire Department always picks up Santa and Mrs. Clause and takes them to our town. Hot chocolate, cookies and candy canes are provided.
Members of the community have had a friendly competition to have the biggest and brightest displays of Christmas lights on their homes and businesses. Every year people come from all over the Island to see the beautiful displays. It has grown so much that many bus tours have made North Rustico a stop during the holiday season.
Come to North Rustico to see the creative ways our community decorates for the season. It is a sight to see for all ages. All are welcome!
Check out this video of the Christmas lights in North Rustico by Islander Pat Martel! It features North Rustico’s own James Gallant and his touching story on why he started decorating his house for Christmas. (Because of James’s hard work, he inspired our Town. He was the recipient of the Provincial Credit Union’s 2015 Volunteer of the Year Award. He also raised over $58,000 in donations for the Children’s Wish Foundation over the last 10 years).
